References to nature abound in König’s work. With human longing and the relationship between landscape and abstraction being primary interests. König says, “The images are not ultimately pictures of landscape, but expressions of their material form. In previous work I have sought appropriate means of production and method of representation to suit a particular aesthetic sensibility. I focus my attention on a particular set of issues in order to create an image through the printmaking medium and its inherent qualities. The technique mirrors what I am doing and thinking when making my work. I attempt to use a range of different techniques and materials, with the aim of conveying a particular appearance. This is the underlying connection between the different bodies of work I make.”
